THE EYES HAVE IT...OR NOT!

First off, let me start off with a brief update on my mom. She went back to the doctor yesterday and she apparently has a serious eye infection. This infection has "compromised" her cornea and she has to return to the doctor every day for 2 WEEKS...yes everyday. She is still in a lot of pain and is in need of some relief beyond what the medicines can do.

It's bizarre to me...Me and my dad go to Texas on a mission to feed and minister to the victims of Hurricane Ike. In less than a week or two after our return, my father "gets" something still unknown in his eye that has caused to virtually lose the vision in his right eye. Doctors are all over the place as to what "it" is and all 4 opinions are varied and different. Dad still can't see very clearly out of his eye.

My mom goes to the homeless shelter to serve. She goes in suffering from an allergic reaction to eye drops she had gotten from her dilation at the eye doctor the previous day and walks away with some infection that manifests itself in about 24 to 48 hours later. Now her right eye is also compromised and she can hardly see.

So my parents go on missions to serve the Lord and to serve others...to be the reflection of Christ and His love that lives in them and they walk away with a loss of vision in their right eyes? Seems strange doesn't it?

What does it all mean you may ask? Is God punishing them for serving Him and others? NO. NYET. ABSOLUTELY NOT. God is not punishing them. I believe that this is indeed a spiritual attack from the devil. I believe for whatever reason and divine purpose that our Lord has allowed the enemy to come against their vision. I also believe that in due time He will make all things new and restore to them what has been lost. What is God wanting us to "see" through all of these trials? I don't know. I just ask that you continue to pray for my parents and bring their vision issues to the feet of Jesus. Perhaps He wants to remind us to rely on spiritual eyes more than physical sight? Perhaps it's something more. I can't say, but I can say this...in all things...we trust Him...yes indeed we trust Him!

Thanks for your prayers and petitions
Ron

  1. Where we are most fortunate, is that these two very beautiful people walk by faith and not by sight. What I saw Sunday was a man that was not burdened by his vision issue, rather a man that was truly celebrating and rejoicing at the work that God was doing right before his eyes. There was true joy in his heart for the Kingdom. We absolutely lift them up to the Great Physician and leave the results up to Him, knowing that all things work to the greater good of the Kingdom, even if it seems to be a trying season to two top notch believers. We join you in prayer over them!
