This is the second post since late last night so make sure you scroll down for important news from Africa...
I don't know about you but I find it very difficult to get out of bed in the morning when it's so dark and gloomy outside. It's funny how we all talk about how we'd love to stay in and just sleep part of the day, put on some sweats, and sit back, lounge around and be lazy. First off all I think that is just a dream that we all only WISH we could actually achieve. Who has time to sit around and be lazy? Or sleep in for that matter? Oh no, life is far too hectic for that it seems. I guess that's why that vision we all seem to have on these dreary mornings is so wonderful to dream of.
I'm glad to see the rain. The forecast calls for 1 to 3 inches...yes, we're talking rain, not snow. The entire Southeast US has been stuck in a bad drought for almost 2 years. Lake Linear in Atlanta is some 20 feet below normal. Without some big rains this winter, that area could be looking at some major water issues next summer.
We too are in need of rain and I'm more than happy to have a few dreary days ahead of us...the warm temperatures aren't too bad either. I believe that as much as we are in a physical drought we are also stuck in a spiritual drought. America has allowed her faith and her expectancy to dry up. No longer are her spiritual reservoirs full. No longer does she proudly call on God to guide her and lead her in His ways. No longer are her leaders turning to Him for hope and help. No longer is she proud to say His name from the steps of the White House or our Capitol building. No America has strayed and strayed far. The heavens above us are blue. There's not one cloud in the sky. The spiritual drought has set in and the only thing we do is continue to sit back and scratch our heads and ask, "Where's the spiritual rain...daaahh?"
Our spiritual drought is self-induced but I believe there is hope for a refreshing spiritual rain from heaven if AND ONLY IF we seek HIS face. The lost of this nation are not going to be praying for this. Those that want to take God off of our money, out of pledges, and even further from our schools aren't going to be in prayer of this country. SO WHO IS? Is it the Christians? The same Christians that allowed it to get this way by the unmistakable silence silent, unheard voice of opposition to the wrongs that this nation condones? Is it the same Christians that don't pray or don't fast or don't read? Will they be the ones to pray us out of this drought?
God is looking for a people - Someone that will stand in the gap and pray and intercede for the very soul of this nation. You reading this...yes you...will you be the one to stand in the gap and pray for our dry America? The strongholds over the mind of our nation is strong, but God is stronger. We must rise up together and pull down these strongholds in the NAME Of OUR DELIVERER JESUS. We must pray and we must fast for this country. We can't leave it up to anyone else because anyone else probably won't be doing it.
Yes the skies above America are blue because there are no clouds in the sky. The drought lingers. After years of drought, Elijah was praying and fasting on top of Mount Carmel. Sensing in his spirit that the rain was coming, he sends his servant to check to see if any clouds or rain can be seen coming. Six times the servant goes out and comes back to report nothing. Elijah continues his praying and fasting each time and finally on the 7th trip out to the sea, the servant comes back and says, "I saw a little cloud about the size of a man's hand rising from the sea." The rain then came in abundance!
Only through OUR prayers and OUR fasting will the "rain" come back to our parched nation. This is a call to prayer friends. As we step forward into uncertain times, let us remain certain in our faith, certain in our prayers, and certain in the God who is able to deliver and save!
